Spanish based designers, Pedro Jansen van Vuuren and Guillermo Venter, a few years ago set out to design a five meter dining table that could seat 20 people.
“We were adamant that the table should only have four legs with no support anywhere in the centre. Steel proved to be the answer in terms of its rigidness, durability and strength and that it would stand the test of time for generations to come. The table was designed in three parts that dovetailed together.
The greatest advantage of steel, particularly in the design and making of long tables in excess of 3 meters, is that a much more refined design is achieved by using less material with bulky parts as would have been the case with tables made from any other material.
Our tables are based on traditional, century old designs and because of the material used, they add a fresh and modern look but still maintain their classical lines. We believe that our tables almost always become the pièce de résistance in any room.
We specialise in the making of dining tables, boardroom tables, centre tables and side tables. We, in addition to our tables, also designed and manufacture a bed resembling the gabled façade of a dutch canal house from the XVII century. All our work can be made to order as needed by our clients.
Our tables are oxidised over a period of weeks in order to develop their unique patina and no one table is ever the same, all depending on the temperature and humidity at the time of manufacturing. Once the desired patina is achieved, the tables are then sealed to prevent any further oxidation and preserve their patina. All our work is also available in a satin black finish. The tables are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, provided that the space is covered.
Every piece is entirely made by hand by the most skilled artisans and the legs of every table are turned by hand. The tables are designed in such a way that the legs can screw out in order to make transportation and installation easier. Each of our tables is numbered by our craftsmen.
We trust that you will experience our creations as functional works of art”.
